I support the Lesbian/Gay/Bi/Straight Alliance, but the rules for intramurals are so GAY. Oh whoops.

Today in my school, the LGBSA held a fun event to raise awareness and to presumably help prevent discrimination. People could choose to get a rainbow painted on their face, I went for something, unique :P
Right off the bat, I don't have a single issue with homosexual people.
In fact, 2 out of many musicians and composers whom I admire, Tchaikovsky and Rob Halford, are gay. I also believe Freddie Mercury is one of the best rock singers ever, and he is also bisexual.
Those things don't bother me at all, however the point of this post is not to defend homosexuals.
Time to take a game break. Oh my goodness, I just died again, wow, that's so gay. Wait...

Bad Classics that are quite Good

We all know those movies. All your parents, or anyone over 30 will easily recognize so and so movie. For us youngsters however, we simply aren't experienced  with those "classics". However, they often have tropes of some sort that are easily recognized and mentioned in our daily lives.

Take Sylvester Stallone movies for example. The acting is nearly, but not quite yet possible, stories and characters are also quite simple. However, movies like that contain such a nice, vintage bad-assery that just can't be replicated, especially even if one has plenty of special effects. There's something about having an actor, who says less than 50 words in each movie, yet he is the spirit of fighting till one cannot fight anymore.

Less...is less. More is more.

I don't know about other people, but I assume in many other positions as well, not just academic (high school/university), there's a certain sort of feeling towards productivity.

"If I lessen the load on myself, then I'll have more time to focus on my other endeavors."

Right now, I get that feeling all the time. However, time and time again has proven it to be false. You may think that you will be productive, but you won't. I was looking forward to the previous long weekend, thinking of all the cool things that I would get done.

What did I do? Play dumb games, somehow drain all the other hours of the day away, and did an absolute minimum amount of work. I was quite ashamed, I thought that I could do so much.

However, I realize that under pressure, not a lot, but pressure nonetheless actually forces oneself to MAKE time, rather than waste it. One would view it as taking time for granted when you have too much for it, thus you don't undertake any interesting self-projects.

I really don't want this to be a purely self-help, productivity focused blog, but these are quite common themes right now during MY life, and seeing as how you're on MY blog, I would like to offer you my two cents.

The Ressurection has Begun

I figure that I need more things to keep me occupied. Yesterday I was in a more depressive mood, after I have come to the realization that I nearly wasted most of my long weekend.
In addition, I have deleted (still have to wait 2 weeks) my Facebook. So, spreading this around will be harder.

One can blame a lot of things for not being productive, and for wasting life.
The only thing that is the true root cause of everything is yourself.

Speaking of which, I've stumbled onto a very interesting blog yesterday, which I would like to share to with you. A blog focused on productivity, yeah, those blogs are a dime a dozen nowadays, but it doesn't mean you can't take something away from it.

I particularly liked this post titled "Get Your Bigs Rock in First".
This article is basically about focusing on your big goals, instead of continuously fretting over the little details that when you sum them up, really don't matter as much compared to your big goals.

Going to Germany

I am going to Germany tomorrow, and while I have lots and lots to write/blog about, I find it hard to obtain free time for this activity. Thus, this blog is practically taking a break more or less until September 2nd. However, I am NOT quitting. I've had enough with quitting things in life. Quitting sucks.

Acceptable racism?

I'll be honest here, 99% of people are racist, or they have been racist. Now, racism, that brings a quite negative connotation, does it not? However, it depends on your definition of racism. I've heard it defined as making previous judgements about someone based on race and guessing about "racial characteristics". Most however, are accustomed to the definition of that definition being used to account for serious discrimination and social handicaps to minority or other racial groups.

Don't get me wrong. Severe racism, that limits opportunities for people, hurts people, is bad. But no matter how much kids may be taught in school, racism will always exist. Now, this doesn't have to a be a bad offensive racism. I personally believe culture encompasses racism. For example, mention vodka and someone might think Russian. Mention rice/bubble tea and someone will think Asian.

Once again, with many other important things in life, I would say, it all comes down to balance. Balance between using subtle racism for humour and get a good laugh out of EVERYBODY, as opposed to using it to hurt people, which is simply just wrong. *

Cirque du Soleil

Today I saw the Cirque du Soleil: Totem at downtown Toronto. For my first Cirque du Soleil show, I have to say: I am impressed. From shocking, breath-holding acrobatics, to corny humor (which was still quite funny) and including dancers and trapeze artists in their mystifying movements.

Quite frankly, I recommend that you go see it at least once. Rather than focusing on the "cannot", you'll be surprised to find out what the human CAN do.
